What is Mander Musings?

Mander Musings is where I keep all the stuff I get up to in the field and beyond. Mostly, you’ll find write-ups from herping trips: what I was looking for, where I went, what conditions were like, and which species actually showed up. It’s part trip log, part field notes, part “I can’t believe I finally found this thing.”

I’ll also drop in species profiles when I have enough photos, records, and firsthand observations to say something useful. Occasionally you’ll see zoo and aquarium reviews, especially when a facility has interesting herp collections or exhibit design worth talking about. And when the night skies cooperate, there’s some astrophotography in here too.

The goal is pretty simple: share real experiences, accurate info, and a bit of the excitement that comes from finding wildlife where it lives. If you’re into reptiles, amphibians, road cruising, night hikes, zoos, or just the general vibe of being outside and looking carefully at things, you’ll probably enjoy it here.
